Magnetic Therapy – Does it Work?
Magnetic therapy is the use of different strengths and sizes of magnets placed on the body for the purpose of healing wounds, relieving, pain, treating disease, increasing energy, and many other things. Some people who practice magnetic therapy believe that injuries and sickness disrupt the natural electromagnetic impulses that the tissues and cells in the human body emit. Since magnets produce energy fields, these practitioners believe these energy fields can penetrate the body to correct the disruption of the body’s own magnetic impulses and restore health to the area.
People who support magnetic therapy believe that it can help ease pain from arthritis, migraines and other headaches, plus relieve stress, increase the flow of oxygen to the cells, and decrease deposits of fat in the arteries. Even stronger claims are that it can also heal broken bones, reverse disease, and cure cancer.
Magnetic therapy involves attaching thin metal magnets to the body. These magnets are often made into magnetic jewellery such as magnetic bracelets. The magnetic bracelets or other type of magnets are worn for anywhere from a few minutes to a few weeks. If a practitioner suggests using the magnet for an extended amount of time, wearing magnetic bracelets would be more convenient and comfortable than strapping a magnet onto the lower back or around the waist.
Many people swear by magnetic therapy. People who wear magnetic bracelets or other types of magnetic jewellery claim that pain they’ve suffered from for years greatly diminishes or disappears completely. Magnetic jewellery can be purchased easily on the Internet, suggesting that magnetic therapy is widely accepted. Clinical trials have had varied results, allowing no conclusions to be made about the effectiveness of magnetic therapy. Most individual success stories offer no conclusive proof.
