The sign company ran out of red letters so they decided to use black instead.
Half way through making the three signs the public relationship company had hired them to, Advent Sign Corporation suddenly stopped production. This was the second major problem they had encountered while create the three signs that read “scent marketing, scent systems and scent machines”. During the first round of mistakes one of the typographers had misspelled several of the words in the “Scent marketing and scent systems” signs though the “scent machines” sign was not affected. Now having overcome the previous mistake Advent Sign Corporation was once again running into problems. The floor manager ran down the metal stair case frantic yelling about to see who was responsible for the halt in production once again. The floor manager demanded to know why production had stopped. One of the workers finally spoke up and pointed to the “scent machines” sign. Quiet, the manager did not understand. Slowly the worker pointed to the “scent systems” sign and then moved his arm towards the “scent marketing” sign. For a few moments the manager glanced back and forth at the three signs unable to see the problem. Suddenly his face turned red, upset and angry. The three signs were now printed in three separate colors. The signs were supposed to be printed all in red but from the appearance of the signs a slur of blues and greens had mistakenly been mixed into the ink batch. The manager demanded to know how this had happened to the ink batch. Another worker shouted out that someone had forgotten to buy more red ink and now they were completely out.
